Well it’s been a few years since we had a live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film on the big screen. 24 years since the original gave us a glimpse of talking turtles and April O’Neil.
I may be in the minority but I loved the original 1990′s film, but the only thing I really remember about 1991′s sequel “The Secret Of The Ooze” is Vanilla Ice’s “Ninja Rap”. Classic.
and who can forget the original TMNT (Partners in Kryme-T.U.R.T.L.E. Power)
but nostalgia aside, some of you may be aware that a new TMNT live action film being produced by Transformers director Michael Bay was in the works.
The new Turtle film stars Megan Fox as April O’Neil, who apparently has made up with Michael Bay after her Transformers faux pa in comparing Mr Bay to Hitler. Megan’s gotta eat I guess.
The film also stars William Fichtner as the Turtles arch nemesis The Shredder and while obviously not an asian actor, Mr. Fichtner is a great actor and I can’t wait to see what he does with this role.
The movie is being directed by Jonathan Liebesman of “Wrath Of The Titan’s” and “Battle Los Angeles” fame and while those 2 films don’t inspire much confidence in me, I’m still really excited we get to see a live action Turtles film. So I’m hoping for the best.
Well enough of the jibba-jabba here is the new teaser trailer.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles releases 8th August. What do you all think of this trailer.
Here is the final trailer for the new X-Men: Days Of Future Past (DOFP) and it looks AMAZING! I for one have always been a huge X-Men fan since I was a little kid watching Saturday morning cartoons but especially the Bryan Singer X-Men films. One of my favorite openings of any film is in X2 when ‘Nightcrawler’ storms the White House. Below is the clip I’m talking about, for some reason the person who created this youtube clip has sped it up. Interesting.
Opening in a month or so (May 23rd) X-Men: Days of Future Past will feature more of our favorite mutants in one film than ever before. It will combine the characters and actors from X-Men: First Class and the Actors from the original films, DOFP promises to be as epic in size as well as ambition of story telling.
The DOFP storyline is a fan favorite in the comic book universe and most fans are wondering how they will do the storyline justice over only a 2 hour film without butchering most of the story’s smaller but still important details.
X3: The Last Stand for me (Not directed by Singer but instead by Brett ‘Meh’ Ratner of ‘Tower Heist’ fame) was HORRIBLE. I wanted to punch the director in the face after leaving that film. That may sound a bit harsh but when you love an established film series so much and then some new guy who obviously doesn’t creates a disaster of epic proportions and essentially slaps your beloved franchise in the face by changing all the previous “rules” killing off established characters, making established character do things they would not normally do and just basically create such a boring storyline overall well, you could understand my fanboy rage. It’s kinda like if all of a sudden in the Star Wars universe an established and much loved character like Han Solo suddenly became evil for no reason and decided to open a hair salon?!? There would be rioting in the streets. Han shot first by the way.
Anyway, fanboy rage aside, this film promises to undo all the horror that was done by X-Men 3. DOFP is a “Time Travel” story arc so theoretically they could do anything. Below is the trailer, I’m really looking forward to this film. Hopefully I haven’t drank the kool aid and am blind to my own expectations.
What do you all think? are you looking forward to this film or could you care less?
Hi everyone, I wanted to see if I could make someone explode ( as you do) through being struck by lightning with visual effects. This is the result. Warning, it is gory. Fake, but gory. My wife suggested I add the disclaimer beforehand incase I offend anyone. Some of you are probably asking, Umm why make this? … and the answer is, just cause I wanted to
To give you an idea, below is a still frame from the original video pre-composited. We replaced the sky in the background with a photograph we found of some storm clouds and added the CGI rain, lightning basically everything else using Adobe After Effects. There are approx 30 individual layers that make up the final composition. Not to mention the 15 or so other layers that have the various sound effects used to create the storm, thunder clap, wind, initial strike, explosion and blood splatters. I actually used a ‘Ghostbusters proton pack turning on’ sound wave to simulate the build up from 1st strike to explosion. Fit rather well.
Here it is folks in all it’s marvelous HD glory. I seriously recommend playing this new Transformers: Age of Extinction trailer in full 1080p and cranking your audio.
This film is a “Reboot” i.e. none of the original cast are returning. No Shia, No Megan, No Turturro, No Tyrese and No Josh Duhamel.
However it is still directed by Michael Bay and we do have Mr. Mark Wahlberg himself headlining the cast.
The lead role was suppose to go to The Rock himself Dwayne Johnson but he had to decline due to scheduling conflicts. The film also features a bunch of your typical Bay -esk “Beautiful people” whom looked like they just walked off the set of a p-diddy music video or a Paris fashion runway.
Playing the role of Mark Wahlbergs daughter is up and comer
and playing her boyfriend presumably is another up and comer
Also some big news confirmed with the trailer is that yes Dinobots will be in this film, which is something that longtime Transformers fans have been speculating about ever since this 4th film was announced.
The film is set for release on June 27th, 2014 in America.
I’ve been dabbling with 3D animation a little lately; I need to raise my skills to a “hole nuther level” in this ever changing creative world.
So, I have a friend who has this company called Rankster. I wanted to attempt to create a animated 3D logo from a still image of his company logo seen below.
Using some artistic license I changed a few things like the coloring, but keep the main core elements such as the arrow and the Rankster font the same. I mean; you can’t really alter someones established company logo, for instance
imagine If the McDonalds famous golden arched “M” suddenly changed to a different font.
it’d look weird. Anyway I’m sure you get the point.
Below is the end result.
We shot this little music video last year. It was super low budget, in fact so low there wasn’t one. Decided to shoot in black and white to emulate one of my all time favorite hip hop video’s (which, BE WARNED does contains explicit lyrics) ‘Jay-Z’s ’99 Problems‘. We also chose black and white because it adds a certain production value. Added some old film scratches and dust and presto.
The entire video is one continuous take. We got it on the second attempt. The sun was setting quick so we were on a time crunch but we got it in the end and everyone was happy with the end result.
No matter how many times I see this clip of Vader being a jerk, I always laugh, it never gets old and I’ve seen it many times.
It’s no wonder the clip currently has nearly 10.5 million hits on YouTube. The concept is so simple and yet it shows how editing can really change the narrative of a story, turning a very serious dramatic scene into a comedy. Timing in editing comedy is so crucial, cut too early or a few frames too late and you can miss the beats/punchline and the joke falls flat. Whereas a cut that is perfectly timed is priceless for instance the scene here where Vader has a stare down with General Veers is a perfect example of this, pausing for effect. The video has got my creative wheels turning and now I’m thinking of what other famous movie scene’s there might be that I could re-edit to tell a different story. Hmm, I wonder. Any suggestions?
The more I see and hear about this film the more I’m really interested in seeing it. Last year we had giant robot’s fighting giant monsters and this year, no robots, just one big mutha of a monster.
This movie features one heck of a great cast, Aaron Taylor-Johnson of “Kick Ass” fame and Elizabeth Olsen, the Olsen twins younger sister. Then of course Mr. Walter White himself Bryan Cranston, who is pretty much gold in my book at the moment. When I see him in the trailer I can’t help but think he’s about to throw some ‘blue sky’ at Godzilla and tell him that “He’s the one who knocks”.
Godzilla chomps into theaters May 16th in America.
What do you think? Are you going to see it when it comes out or wait for the DVD/Blu-Ray? Leave a comment below.
Here is a time lapse we shot on Saturday at the Lake Worth Street Painting Festival. Basically once a year the city of Lake Worth closes off a few streets for the weekend and lets the artists have at it. I shot the time lapse using a Panasonic HVX 200A, the camera captured 1 frame every 5 seconds. The frame rate was set to 30 fps (frames per second). I love shooting time lapse it’s such a beautiful medium, watching as the sun moves through the sky really brings the shadows to life. Hope you all enjoy. Leave your comments.
The music featured in the video is the new U2 song “Invisible (Red)” which is available here on iTunes. It’s SUCH a good song and really flowed with the style of the video.
There were so many incredible artists show casing their talent over the weekend. This years festival followed a ‘Movies’ theme. Below are just a few of the amazing pieces. Remember it’s chalk on concrete and you won’t believe some of the amazing 3D pieces that were there. Like this incredible floating X-Wing below.
Cary Grant & Deborah Kerr from the film “An Affair To Remember”.
Dick Dastardly famous for tying blondes to railway tracks.
The iconic image from the 1902 film “A Trip To The Moon”.
Robert Downey Jnr. aka Sherlock Holmes with Jude Law & Rachel McAdams
Actress Hedy Lamar
One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest
‘Flight’ from Carrie Bennett.
If you would like to see more images here is a newspaper article the Sun Sentinel wrote about the festival. It features the chalk painting shown in the video as well as the general atmosphere of the weekend.
Hot on the heels of FOX bringing the much beloved ’24′ back to the small screen it now looks like another network ‘NBC’ is following suit with the very popular show ‘Heroes‘ which will be returning to us from the grave. Heroes had been previously cancelled in 2010 when it’s 4th and final season ended due to low ratings, NBC decided to pull the plug…. until now that is. Heroes, again like ’24′ is also returning as a 13 part mini series. It’s not often we see a show return to a major network after it had been previously cancelled.
The new show is titled “Heroes : Reborn”. Does that mean that an entirely new cast will be introduced?? There is no word at the moment that any of the old cast will be making a return.
Below is a teaser NBC released yesterday and it’s kinda lame to be honest. I understand it’s a ‘teaser’ but NBC could of at least showed us one of the Heroes doing something cool and super-powery for a second or two. Looks like we’ll have to wait until 2015 to see the new show. Your thoughts? Are you happy to see this show return or should it have been left in the grave? Leave a comment.
